Happy Halloween!
Things are moving along. I hate that I am missing our Saturday runs. Last Saturday was my mother's 60th B-day so Tom and I were in KY celebrating with her. This Saturday I am going to be at Shiloh National Military Park for a mandatory staff ride. I am semi looking forward to it. Then again, not. I cannot wait for a Saturday when I can actuallly attend! Sad, huh. Happy Running!

Whew! Running today
Today is the first day I have ran since Chicago due to a sinus infection. Yuck! It hurt a little more than I thought. My legs did fine, just my breathing. I am looking forward to Saturday and our Post-Chicago Run for those who are doing MS Blues. We are marathoners!

Can you believe it?
A week ago today we were in Chicago upset over the Marathon being closed early. Now a week later...in better spirits...we are in MS thinking about doing a half or full marathon! The Blues is just around the corner and we are MARATHONERS! I am looking forward to seeing those continuing training next week.

Chicago was great! with a few bumps along the way, but we got there and started which is more than I can say for most. What a great accomplishment! I am so proud of us. I have bragged all week about Marathon Makeover and its participants. I am also glad that we are adding another chapter to our lives by committing to the half or full MS Blues Marathon. I have to say thank you to everyone I have met along the way. You guys have kept me going this whole time.

Great Job!
Everyone did such a great job on Saturday. I had to start early in order to be able to grab a shower and get to Meridian for a Pre-Command Course. I was planning on stopping on my way to Meridian for the shower but ended up rushing home. I was afraid that I would not be able to walk if I waited that long. It hurt to even walk to the car. It ended up working well. I did okay until the last 4-5 miles. I only did around 20 miles Saturday due to timing issues. Amazingly I was able to stay awake through 4 hours of powerpoint presentations! YEAH.

I got up at 5am!:)
I finally did it again! and no I am not Brittany Spears. I actually got up at 5am and did my workout. I am hoping to do it again and again. Oops! I have been saying I am going to get up and get my workout out of the way, but it has not been happening. My motivation was my Saturday run. I felt it was not the greatest so I am trying to make the best of what time I have left. I figured if I do not allow the day to get in the way (you know how things add up) and not being allowed to use the heat as an excuse that I would do better about getting my time in. We will see if this is a short trend or long one.
IT DID FEEL GREAT, once I was out of the bed. I set enough time to get my workout in and I was not thinking of all the things I had to get done before bedtime (like usual). My only thinking was one interval at a time. I did 3:2 intervals after I found 4:1's were a little rough after Saturday.

Whew!
Can you believe it? I almost cannot.... 20 miles ( I was a little shy of 20)! We kicked A** . I got home, drank some Endurox and took a cold bath. I honestly could not believe that I could walk the rest of the day. My legs did not hurt until I woke up this morning. I actually thought I would be hurting worse due to how badly I felt those last 5 or 6 miles. My knee was killing me (ITB issues again & a popping out of place problem). I almost quit but due to the support out there I decided to keep going even if I walked. Even that hurt!
22 here we come and then 26.2. :)
Oh, to those that I told I was going to work in the garden when I got home! Tom gave me a reprieve. He had my bath fixed for me and fixed me breakfast! Not sure what I did to deserve that. We hung out all day, went to the grocery and watched a movie at home. I did have to buy him a beer later that evening though.
Well to next Saturdays 10 miles. Easy run!

Everybody is looking GREAT!
I thought everyone looked great on Saturday. Thank goodness it was a little cooler than the Saturday before. I ran with Mandy, Kim and Carey (gosh, I hope I spelled that right!).
This evening I went to Heather's Yoga class. If you have not gone you are definitely missing out. She is great! Well, sometimes and then the sometimes she is not you just want to scream at her for making you hurt a little. She is teaching us to stretch in some places I did not even know you could stretch!
Well, good luck on your training this week. I am going to keep my mind set on one interval at a time! You guys offer great advice and I think you for it. Last Saturday's 9 miles kicked me in the butt a little. I was very sore afterwards for some reason. This week I have not been sore at all. Go figure with all those hills.

The mental battle: What do I do?
I have been struggling with the mental battle of running since we began. I keep hoping I will push it out of the way for it to never come return, but I need to rethink that one. It seems like the last few miles always get me. If I were going to run 15 miles, I would be fine up until the last three or four and the same way with 9 miles. I am fine until the last one or two. I have tried finding a mantra that works for me, but so far none do. I have tried telling myself I love running and that doesn't seem to work in the middle of a run. I am wondering if I could get someone to do hypnotherapy and plant "I love running" into my mind (which would only work if my left and right brain are in sync with one another and I want to "love" running). I read runner's world magazine which gets me pepped up for a little while. I get new shoes or a new shirt or shorts which gets me excited and out there. I really cannot afford to do that every time I am supposed to go running by myself. :)
Well I guess I will keep battling this one out but any suggestions anyone has I am happy to hear them out.

Wow! You guys did great.
I was not there to see you finish but I did get to see you start out and cheered some of you on during my jaunt back to the park. Sorry I had to cut it short. I did my 13 miles though which was my goal today. That is the most motivation I have had since going to Annual Training. Today has pumped me up for the rest of the week and I am already looking forward to running on Saturday.
I am actually still shocked at myself for getting up at 3am and heading out to the park early. I think I am starting to stress out a little because we are only 2 months away. I am hanging in there though.
I have had a terrible headached most of the day. I think it was due to lack of sleep and the heat. Once I got the armory and showered I started pouring sweat from standing over a grill and then just from the lack of not having an air conditioner until around 2pm. I could not wait to get home and crawl in bed.
Well, Happy Training everyone! I wish you well this week.

Running me crazy!
Life that is. I have been in Clinton all week doing my Command Inventory for the National Guard. It is hot and humid and even worse in a building with mostly no air conditioning. I did well at the first of the week but as the inventory went on and I got more tired I slacked off.
Tomorrow, I plan (you caught the word plan, right) on getting to the park at 4am and starting out. I am going to do camp fire circle and then come back ..hopefully catching you guys and running to the boat landing and heading back in to the park. I have to cut it short due to it being Family Day in Canton for the 112th MP BN. I am hoping this will be the last Saturday that is in jeopardy. There may be a Saturday in September but it may not be a problem as long as I can run and still be in Meridian by 11:30.

One more week & I'll be back...
This weekend Tom & I are going to Destin. I am promising myself that I will run on the beach Saturday morning. I will definitely be there next Saturday but may not be able to finish the entire run due to having drill. The good news is that it is family day and I do not have to be there until 8:45am. Earlier would be good but I am going to start out my day with you guys.
I have missed everyone. Hope everyone is having fun in this heat and humidity.

Training got rained out!
How about that for the Army. Well, it was lightning also. Hope everyones Saturday morning run went well. I cannot wait to read about it on the blogs. I have not had as much time as I thought I would because of taking over Company Command with the 114th MP's. I only got to run for about 45 minutes this morning. If the rain goes away I may go back out this evening. I definitely miss everyone!

Whew! It is hot down here!
Well, I started my two week AT off with a kick. Most days I am either running or riding my bike as time allows. It is difficult to stick to the training program due to weather related events or training so I am winging it as I go.
Well, got to go and get some work done.

Tricky week
This has been a bad workout week for me. My mom called me Monday and asked if I cared if my sister, nephew and herself visited. They are leaving Friday so it will not interfere with my Saturday run. I have to admit that I have slacked off a lot this week because of their surprise visit.
Hope everyones training is coming along well. I really enjoyed the potluck. It was wonderful meeting and speaking with those I have not had much of an opportunity to meet.
Check out the new articles on runnersworld.com. The magazine has some very interesting information varying from plantar facciitis? to injuries.

Happy post half Marathon!
Well, I feel great but a little stiff after sitting. I cannot believe yesterday we did 13.1 miles. My time was 2:26:30. I was somewhat satisfied with my time but looking back at those last 3-4 miles I know I could have pushed myself a little more.
Yesterday I felt great all day and could not really sleep last night. I am hoping that will be different tonight.
I am starting to worry about Annual Training. I may potentially miss up to 3 Saturdays so I am trying to lock in some people to train with me. The moment I mention the mileage they look at me like I might be crazy. I think they thought it would be something like 3-5 miles and not 15, 7.5 or 16 miles.

Hydration!!
I thought I would be recovered from the week but after I biked for 30 minutes and then worked in the yard I was done. Weed eating is difficult! My husband drug me to some place that sells pots on Hwy 49(I think) and then to the Bass Pro Shop in the jeep. I continued to sweat througout that trip, so lets just say I am going to have to play catch up on the hydrating.
Don't forget to hydrate!!!! hydrate!!! & hydrate some more!!!!
Wednesday of last week I could tell I did not have enough water considering I was outside a lot and it took its toll on how I felt. The headache was the worst and it did not go away until the following morning.
If you have not checked out the website Robin suggested in the blog on hydration YOU BETTER. I think it is half your weight and then divide it by 10 or something like that to get the cups. I am supposed to drink around 80 ounces a day! It said to add more if you are working out or doing hard labor. SO DRINK UP MARATHONERS!

Thank gosh for friends!
First, that is me in the video. It is the picture that was published in a Soldiers Magazine back in 2005 (I think). That is what I have called my "Best Day in Iraq" if you can have one of those. Secondly, if it were not for Debbie I would not have gotten a workout in yesterday. I was so exhausted from the Youth Camp and my friends vehicle breaking down on Wednesday late afternoon on the side of the road 50 minutes from Jackson that I would have certainly came in, plopped my feet up on the couch and have gone to bed (does that even make sense?).
I am making this quick so I hope so. You see, I am even answering myself. Oh, well!
Yesterday I ran with Debbie at Lakeshore. My knee is doing better and I think taking a little time off and doing more biking and crosstraining helped. I am really lifting weights now, so we will see what that does for me.
Hope everyone is having a good week and Debbie I cannot thank you enough.

Kids if not family may be the death of me.
I hate that I have been out of the loop here of late. I got home from Camp on Friday and entertained a sister-in-law until midnight. I had a great time though. This camp is also a complete drain on my system, but I am tough. I can handle it. I did not know kids could be this draining but oh am I learning quick. Now, I have to make this fast so I can shower and then sit down to do notes.
I biked on Sunday and then lifted weights. Today I walked for approximately 3 miles and then ran 1. My knee is still bothering me a little when I run but other than that I am no longer noticing anything when I am walking or sitting.
I should be there Saturday with no problems.

WORK & venting time....
If this youth camp does not kill me then I will be one strong individual. I started out Monday with a 1 1/2 hour drive ,7.5 hours with 15 kids ages 13-16 who are mostly court committed to this camp, a 2 two hour meeting and then another drive home. Oh, almost forgot the 3 hours doing notes at home! Initially I was doing 6 groups a day with two separate groups but had to combine them to make room for another group of kids coming in later this week and next week. These are kids who are in gangs, have numerous behavioral problems, poor social skills, etc. Half the time I feel as if I am talking to myself.
I rode my bike on Monday and briefly on Tuesday but tonight I am off to bed! Yes at 8:00.
I am hoping to make it back home tomorrow in time for the Rez! Join us at 6 pm if you can make it. That is my goal for tomorrow. I may not have the energy to do much, but I will try my best.

Is some of this psychological?
I am getting ready to run out the door for this Youth Camp I am working in but wanted to blog quickly. Yesterday I rode my bike for 20 minutes and then did some strength training to work my quads and hamstrings. I am not sure if this is psychological or not but my knee actually felt better afterwards for about 5 hours. Then I started to feel the dull ache I have been feeling for a while. Also, throughout the day yesterday I stretched and used the foam roller. I am not sure if the pain will ever diminish when I am using that thing!
Today, I plan on riding my bike longer today or at least until my buttocks can't take it anymore. I still have not gone shopping for biker shorts. I think I will do some ab and core work to.

I'm slowing it down.
Today I showed up ready to run 11 miles but only got in 6. :( Even though I did not really sleep well the night before due to my dog waking twice wanting to go outside and a snoring husband. I thought I would start out with Debbie and Ann even though their pace is a little faster than mine. It worked for a while! :0 Again at about the 5th mile my knee started bothering me a little more than it usually does and I started having doubts about continuing the run. I stopped at 6 miles and have felt guilty all day for it. Unlike last week I felt like I had energy during the run and that I could keep going. I'm not sure what was going on last week.
The past few weeks I have kept telling myself that I am going to slow down and I have yet to slow down. I do better with plans so this week I am going to ride my bike every day for as long as my buttocks can stand it and add more strength training to my regime. If I were to be honest I would have to say I have been shamming a little on my cross training days, so I am going to step it up and try to be more consistant. I'll keep you posted on my endeavor for the week.

Happy Tuesday!
I hope everyone enjoyed Memorial Day. I worked out first thing Monday morning and then worked in the yard for an hour or so. I was exhausted all day Sunday and Monday and not sure why. I actually did something I normally do not allow myself and took a nap that afternoon.
Today, I ran for 30 minutes and finished by doing some hills. I am now cleaning house (which I hate!). Unfortunately, I need to get ahead on cleaning because I do not see much time to do so in the near future once this Youth Camp begins.

Not so raring today!
I was not at my best today, if you could not already tell. I am not even sure what my time was (over 2 hours:() It seemed my energy gave out on me after I hit the 4 or 5 mile marker. I guess I will just try and work harder this week and jump back in next week for the fun and loving 11 miles!!!!!!!!!!!
I look forward to seeing you guys then.
Happy training:)

Carbed up & raring to go...
which we will see if that statement is still true tomorrow. :) I am nice and full from eating at the Macaroni Grill with several other Marathoners. This will definitely have to become an occasional ritual before the longer runs.
Well, so much for trying to run hard. My knee is still giving me some problems. I am continuing to stretch and take it easy so I can hang in there on the longer runs. This week I have not pushed myself hard at all. I hope I can do better next week.

Moving along...
slowly if I do say so myself. Yesterday, I walked for 53 minutes with Tom at a fast pace. I was trying to take it easy on my left knee. Today, I wanted to get in some speed work and so I did. I started out running for 5 minutes and walked 1. Then I ran slowly for 30 seconds then fast for 30 seconds repeating until I hit my first mile marker. I walked for 10 minutes at a fast pace foll0wed by repeating the 30 second fast and slow increments on the return trip home which was a mile. I honestly thought my first mile would be faster but my second one was 9:30 compared to my first 10:36 mile.
I am again looking forward to running Thursday and Saturday. I can't wait to see how Saturday turns out. Does that make me crazy?
Oh, almost forgot. I went by Indian Cycle and got fitted for a bike to cross train with. I pick it up tomorrow.

Hope I am not the only one worn out!
I have been negligent in my blogging as you can tell. I am exhausted from the 9 mile run this morning. I have been trying to sneak in a nap all day and have not been fortunate enough to get one in due to interruptions from either Madison or Tom (mostly Madison, the dog). Well so much for that. If I do succeed at this time I will never get to sleep tonight and I like my rest. J
Today’s run was not too awfully bad. I beat my time from last week by running the course in 1 hour and 35 or so minutes. Oh, I listened to Cheryl about the Illioid T***** (knee pain) something or other regarding knee pain plus what Mark said and it worked. I finally added ice to the regime! I know I was supposed to do the cold bath and ice after these long runs, but just haven't gotten up the nerve. I did try once but failed miserably. Hope you guys have better luck on the ice baths. I will stick to icing my knees!!!

Running is so much fun...
I really enjoyed Saturday and wanted to thank Jep, Sam, Liane (probably mispelled) and Christie for being great running partners. 9 miles is not as much fun when you are by yourself. I think I am going to make it my Saturday challenge to learn more about those I have not already met or haven't gotten a chance to speakwith yet. I am horrible with names, but names do not seem so difficult when I have been running along side of someone for several miles or even minutes and Iget a chance to speak with you guys personally.
Well, I followed my parents back to Kentucky after our morning Saturday run and a quick shower. Boy, was I stiff after riding in a car for 7 and a half hours. I had my Boston Terrier, Madison for a companion though. Unfortunately, she was not that talkative or interested in staying awake for the ride.
Well, so much for taking up time. I am off to Bowling Green to go shopping with my sister and then later today I am going to head to the park and get in some wogging......

Taking it easy...
I hate to talk about aches and pains but here goes. I am taking it easy on my knees........they are still bothering me. I did not get in my 8 miles this weekend but did walk 2.4 on Sunday and Monday. I am going to take it easy again on Tuesday and then try to jump back in on Thursday or Saturday. I started taking Glucosamine Chondroitin to see if that helps. The pain is not horrible just uncomfortable and I don't want to do actual damage. I'm going to take it easy for a week or so and see how I feel. My right knee is the main issue. I would rather slow down a little right now than get injured and be unable to make it to the marathon.
I AM A MARATHONER!!!!!!!!!!

We did Lakeshore again!
It is so much more fun when you have others with you. It is more motivating. Debbie, Debra, Suzie and myself met again at Lakeshore to get in our 50 minutes. We actually went a little over because we did the five mile route, but it was fun.
We are going to meet again next Thursday if anyone else would like to join us. The more the merrier!

Wogging along...mostly the w.......
Yesterday I did a run/walk with my hubbie for 47 minutes. I ran a faster pace when I was actually running. Did more walking than usual though. The heat was a killer yesterday so today I thought I would do the smart thing and get up early. I sort of got up early? 7ish... I ran/walked for 50 minutes (mostly walking). I was a bit sore today and my knees were killing me verses my shins. I am continuing to stretch a lot through out the day.

Saturdays are so much fun!!
It was great to see everyone today. If it was not for you guys...well...I would probably be a lazy couch potato instead running right now.
I hope everyone had a good time getting in thier 7 miles today. I did. I was hoping for a little bit of a faster pace but I was happy with 1 hour and 13:45. It was right at a 10:49 mile pace if I was consistent.
I am definitely sore thought. I was actually sore before starting out today from the yard work I did yesterday. I have taken several alieve and am going to see if that helps.
Oh..almost forgot....Several of us are going to get together again at Lakeshore Park on Thursday again. The more the merrier!!Come JOIN us if you can.

Hello all..
today several of us marathoners got together at Lakeshore Park around 5pm. We did five miles and it was GREAT! We are going to try and make it a weekly ritual for those that can make it. We actually got started around 5:10. Come and JOIN us!:)

Today...
I finished my intern hours at the VA Medical Center. I now have to finish up a few loose ends with Jackson State and if all goes well, I am done. Yeah!!! It feels awkward to have some time to rest and hang out. It is hard to relax when you have been going at a fast pace for over four months now with almost no break.
I ran for 47 minutes and implemented some speed work. I went a little longer because of the hills. Instead of jogging down I walked which I took slowly. I also had to make it back home!:)

Running buddies do matter!
This afternoon I kept hoping it would start raining & lightning. It definitely seemed to take forever to get in my minutes today running by myself. I did 2 & 1 for 43 minutes. Probably could have gone longer.
I am looking forward to running Thursday at Lakeshore Park. Those who want to join are welcome to attend. I will be there at 5 pm.

Great Run!
Today was great! I met several individuals today that I was very glad to get to know. Boy, it did not seem like 6 miles today and I credit that to Mary, Pam and Sam. Speaking to you guys took my mind off of running and definitely upped the enjoyment.
I posted in the forum that several of us marathoners are going to try and meet on Thursdays around 5pm at Lakeshore Park. Anyone who would like to join us is welcomed. The more the merrier!

running is fun!
or at least that is what I am going to keep telling myself. Today was not a great run day for me. I ran/walked for 50 minutes, but I mostly walked. My shins? were killing me again today. I stretch every chance I get and I am working through it.

Feet Fleet group run was fun!
I got up the nerve to go to the group run Feet Fleet has every Thursday. It was great meeting other runners. I did five miles (back of the pack but kept going) in 55 minutes and 20 seconds. That is with the stops at the red lights and a several minute break at the water point.
Hope everyone is doing well. I am doing fine but my chins have been bothering me some. I am stopping to stretch them out as needed and doing extra stretches through the day.

Hey! Hey! Why do we go....
...I don't know either. Anyway, I am thinking of going to Feet Fleet tomorrow for the 5 or 9 mile and of course...do the 5 mile run. It sounds like it is for a good cause. I was wondering if any others might show.
Hope everyone is having a good week. Mine is going well so far. I am sorry to miss out on the run on Saturday but I will be at Camp Shelby training with the guard. You guys have a good one.

HAPPY EASTER!!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter.
Well, today I did some weight lifting here at the house and some lunges. Later today I am going to do some abs and maybe take my dog around the neighborhood to enjoy the day.

To a foggy morning...
It was so foggy and eery this morning but I did like Robin suggested and laid my clothes out the night before. Monday's are a late day for me since I go to school all day. I don't have to be at school until 8:30am. I keep telling myself I am going to start working out at 5am, but I I don't know if I could get up that early to workout every day.
For those of you who missed Saturdy, it was great. A must see!

Missed Everyone!
I hate that I missed today, but I got an email late yesterday from my professor stating we would meet today at 10:00am for our Independant Study class. Since graduation in May takes precedence I had to prioritize. Luckily Dr. Holt is a wonderful person and took pity for future Saturdays. I talked her into meeting at 11:30am from now on. So I will have time to attend the meetings and run and then get to class.
I will make sure and watch the video online and see everyone next week.

Hey there!
I am looking forward to Saturday! Not just for the bread but to see everyone also. :) Hope everyone is having a good week. Mine has gone well. My only screw up for the week is that I came home and vegged out yesterday. My husband was in class and I enjoyed being home, doing nothing and no one around to say a word about it;). So, I am going to at least walk when I get home today and maybe do some interval training.
See you Saturday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Well, I ducked out from the meeting today to set up at the parade. It was fun but I missed running with the group.
Thought I would put different pictures up as I go along for everyone interested and finally figured it out. This one is a picture of me when I was in Scania (Iraq, South of Baghdad) escorting the TAG around to visit soldiers from KY. We could not fly the flag while there but we could cheat and sneak in ways to show love for our country.

I'm Committed! Count me in!
I don't know if I should have a drink to celebrate or have a drink to get rid of the nervousness! My husband thinks I should go run a mile. OK, OK, so I went ahead and registered to run the marathon. I was not going to run the Chicago Marathon out of fear of being jobless right after graduation. However, I think I have a good job lined up (if things work out). Keep your fingers crossed for me!
My husband and I talked and agreed it might be best if I do this one with the group I have been training with. YEAH!!! It took some debating! So Chicago here I come. I think I may need to see a therapist now.

Hey Everyone!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday. Mine was not bad. I had a change of scenery by going to the Vet Center. I love working with veterans! I have the opportunity of going to the Vet Center over the next several weeks. I am so lucky.
Yesterday late evening I got out and walked at a fast pace for 45 minutes. I love the weather we are having. Hopefully it will stay with us a little longer.
Well, off for another day. Oh, almost forgot to mention that Saturday evening Tom and I were searching Old Canton Rd for Great Harvest Bread Company. We found it! I left there with two samples and some cinnamin bread. It is so good!

Gorgeous Day!
Gosh, the weather was so nice today. I did not get in actual cross training but did dig, rake and plant in the flower beds today for a good two to three hours. I am hoping that counted for something (considering all the raking, lifting bags of top soil and potting soil). I am actually sore because that is what I did yesterday as well. I love Spring.
I hope everyone enjoyed there day.

Friday is here!
I am so glad to see Friday and I cannot wait for the meeting. It seems like that is what gets me motivated through the week.
Yesterday, I walked/jogged for about 45 minutes (mostly walked).
This morning I am going to put the 10 ways to give yourself a pay raise in the car. It is probably the only way it will get used. I will make sure to give some feedback when I am through though.
See you Saturday, Micah

You guys are the best!
I mean that! You are so supportive and wonderful. I just have to give Lisa a hard time. Thats all.
Well.. my allergies are here to stay according to the Dr... as long as I am living in MS. I am on a maintenance dose of medicine so hopefully allergy and sinus stuff won't pop up every month or so now.
Even though my nose is either stuffy or runny and my eyes are watering and my head hurts everytime I move it..I STILL GOT OUT THERE TODAY! I almost talked myself out of it but I didn't. I did enough of that last week. I did not run though. My head hurts too much for that. I walked for 35 minutes sneezing and coughing & all, but I feel better.

bumpy roads...
I hope the meeting is great on Saturday. I might be able to run by on my way to Clinton or Brandon for the Natl. Guard on Saturday. It seems this week does not like me. School has me bogged down and I have been busy with my internship. I cannot wait for that graduation date in May. I may have a Laua at the house and invite those who wish to come. :) if I make it and I will. Now I am overcoming either a cold, sinuses or allergy stuff. Not sure which.
Well, again.. Happy Meeting everyone!

off to a bad start...
Off to a rocky start this week. I kind of chickened out of working out today and just got home. I am going to bed! Oh, before I forget I wanted to mention that my friend Lisa had a mishap.
If you have not heard lisamae1970 broke her leg. My guess is that this is a not well disguised excuse for not running the marathon (like the double negative?) Some will go to any length to sham.

slacking a tad bit today
Today I did not do well. I had good intentions of course but you know how that goes. I completed a mile on the treadmill which took about fifteen minutes during the day at the VA. I was in charge of the workout room again. Did not have the right shoes so I did not want to over do it and hurt my feet since I have had plantar faciitis?... something.
I cannot wait for the meeting this weekend or the run. It is so motivating to see everyone.

Beautiful weather...
Happy Wednesday!!!!The weather is gorgeous (hope I spelled that right). I wish today was a run day because I would be outside. Today I worked out at the VA with one of the groups. I lifted weights for 20-25 minutes while I was monitoring the weight room. Hope everyone is enjoying the outdoors while this weather lasts.

fun in the rain!
Hope everyone is doing well. Going to the meeting definitely helps keep me motivated through the week. This afternoon I did my 30 minutes outside in the rain. It was nice and it was not really raining until I was almost through.
I made the pumpkin pudding using the recipe from the book. It is not so bad if you like pumpkin.

the great outdoors!
Today I got my butt outside. I have a morning and night class on Mondays. So, I thought I would get my workout in between. It was so great! I walked/ran for 35 minutes. I was out there more but had to intervene when our neighbors chesapeake bay retriever tried to fight another dog. Not good I know... but what else could I do. Delta (the dog) goes walking/jogging with the close neighbors. She is wonderful.

First time for everything...
Today at the grocery I studied those labels! I have been reading the Superfoods RX book and have not been so ingrained in book in quite a while. Another first, I put wheat germ in my yogurt this afternoon. I was a little leary at first, but it was not so bad. I also got the bread with high fiber, walnuts and raisins. If I am not at the next meeting it is because my husband did away with me. Send someone to check on me! I think next I will do the Peanut butter and jelly and slowly add ideas from the book.
I am getting ready to do my weight lifting and some abs.

Belated Valentine!
Happy Valentines Day! One day late of course. Did not get a chance yesterday to blog. I hope everyone enjoyed their valentine.
I am ready for Saturdays Meeting. It makes it so much easier to get through the week when you have the motivation day somewhere in the mix.
I did my 30 minutes on the treadmill as usual. It is too cold outside for me.....brrr. I get enough just taking Madison(the dog) outside.
Well, I can't wait to see everyone Saturday.

Three flats....
What Mark says is true..at least in my case...if I don't blog, I don't jog. I had good intentions but with drill this weekend and school work not to mention life....well those are just excuses. I have three flats (Saturday, Sunday and Monday)! I was determined not to get a fourth. I could definitely tell a difference in myself too. Not to mention the food I ate on Saturday. A SGM wanted to eat at Wards on the return trip from a conference at Shelby. There were consequences!!!!!!!!!
I did a 25 minute cardio workout on the treadmill. Hate that I missed the meeting. Not as fun listening to it on the computer.

bummer!
Ha! Bet you thought I did not work out today, but I did. :)
I did my usual which is thirty minutes on the treadmill. I almost decided to skip because I did not get up early enough to get my training in this morning. Instead I came home and did it immediately so I would not have time to back out.
The bummer is that I cannot attend the meeting this Saturdy. Unfortunately, I have drill this weekend. I will definitely be there the week following though.

another day...
Well, it is another day and I got up early again. I thought about this as I was making up my run day I missed yesterday. Remember? I swopped my XT for run day because it fit better. Doing marathon makeover is helping to accomplish another goal in my life...getting up earlier for work. How scary!
Today, I walked/ran on the treadmill and did interval training. It makes the time go faster so I don't think of quitting as often. I try to concentrate on my day but that doesn't usually go that well. What are you supposed think about when running? I hear of people getting in that zone but it has not happened to me yet..........

YEAH!!!!!!!!
Today, I passed my licensure exam for my practice in Social Work. Upon graduation in May I will be an LMSW. I am so excited. One more goal almost accomplished in my life.
This morning I skipped out on my workout because I was so nervous about the exam. However, I am going to get in my XT today and run tommorrow.

Week 2!
Okay...I'm not that excited....not when I have to get up out of bed anyway. I did my 30 minutes like usual. I keep telling myself I am going to do more than that...you know how that sometimes goes. This morning my routine included a 10 minute warm up, then 2 1/2 minute increments of running followed by walking.
Oh, and I am still waiting for it to become habit forming!

Marathon here we come!
I say Marathon because I am not certain I am going to Chicago. I may have to find one closer to home.
Hope everyone got the motivation from the meeting they need to keep moving this week. I did! Thought Leslie was great with the bra test ...cool stuff.. and then of course Mark helping out with the demo of the yoga thing. Then, how about the run/walk? It was great. I ran most of it, but have to admit that I walked on the last hill. Definitely sore today. I have not been sore one day since starting this program so guess it was well deserved. I blame it on those hills!
Today, I accomplished some weight lifting and ab work again. I am going to try and do abs at least three days a week.

How many days does it take to make it a habit?
Well... I have no idea...anyway I'm ready for it.
I almost decided to lay in bed this morning, but I got up (just 30 minutes walking on the treadmill). I used to love running and could not wait to get that natural high from it.
Now I cannot wait to get back to that point. When I got out of Officer Basic Course I was addicted, slacked off and then was deployed to Iraq. After OBC I was maxing my run by running 2 miles in 15:26. I had never been able to do that before. I found several running partners while in Iraq and became addicted yet again.
Luckily, I was at Camp Liberty and Victory so it was set up where you could run long distance. There was a huge man made lake just before you get to what we called commo hill. We would run around the lake then up commo hill and back to our hooches. Overall, it was probably 10 miles or so if we did both the lake and hill. I'll have to see if I have a picture of it. It was huge and would make you feel like you were dying at first. It was great!

Pilates!
I always forget how tough some of these pilates videos can be....after the fact of course. I did not get up early enough this morning to get my XT in. However, I did do it when I got home from work. I did a winsor pilates beginner workout and another 10 minute solution workout so I could get in 30 minutes of workout time.

Better than Lipo
25 minutes of walking on the treadmill with a 3-5 incline. Hope I continue to be this motivated through October. I am hoping to start walking/running (half & half) next week. I have been running off and on for 9 years so hopefully it won't be to bad. My goal is to be running (slowly) the continuous amount of time by the 5th or 6th week. I will keep you up to date on my progress.
It is sad that I have to pay for this kind of motivation, but it is more financially feasible than having lipo!

Hey Everyone!
Well, I got out of bed! I did thirty minutes on the treadmill but I kicked the incline up to 5.0 so that I would get a good workout from it. I did! I then took my Boston Terrier, Madison out on a short walk and yes......it is cold out there. Kudos or is it cudos to those who jogged or walked outside today.

Getting started!
Well, I did it...no I am doing it! Today I started out by lifting weights.
kickbacks (3 sets of 8)
benchpress (3 sets of 10 w/ 20 pds)
I did other stuff that I do not know the name of and 100 crunches.
I am so excited to be doing this. Running a marathon has been on my to do list for three years. Yes, I am 28 and have a to do list.. a list of thing I plan on accomplishing before it is too late.
