Today I showed up ready to run 11 miles but only got in 6. :( Even though I did not really sleep well the night before due to my dog waking twice wanting to go outside and a snoring husband. I thought I would start out with Debbie and Ann even though their pace is a little faster than mine. It worked for a while! :0 Again at about the 5th mile my knee started bothering me a little more than it usually does and I started having doubts about continuing the run. I stopped at 6 miles and have felt guilty all day for it. Unlike last week I felt like I had energy during the run and that I could keep going. I'm not sure what was going on last week.
The past few weeks I have kept telling myself that I am going to slow down and I have yet to slow down. I do better with plans so this week I am going to ride my bike every day for as long as my buttocks can stand it and add more strength training to my regime. If I were to be honest I would have to say I have been shamming a little on my cross training days, so I am going to step it up and try to be more consistant. I'll keep you posted on my endeavor for the week.

You have NOT messed up your training! Better to be an under trained marathoner, healthy at the starting line than an over trained, injured marathoner at the starting line.
Hang in there, Micah and continue to listen to your body. I hope you have a great week!
I'm so sorry your knee messed you up on Saturday. I think you did the right thing by stopping. I'm a good bit slower than you have been going, so if you need a pacesetter, I'm available. I hope that knee gets better soon -- the cross training and strength training should help greatly. Take care of yourself.
Be kinder to yourself, Micah! Think of all the positive, affirming things you would say to us in the same circumstances, and take them to heart!
Don't feel guilty about doing just six. You were smart in listening to your body. The five missed miles on June 2nd aren't going to have an effect on your success in October. You got out there and did something and that's what counts. Hang in there!
Micah--
Having had the knee problems before I really sympathize. And, you know I've had to hang back and walk on several occasions. And, that's hard with everyone wizzing by. You did the right thing. I was working on sat. out of town and only got that 7.6 mile run in last week, and will have to miss this sat. also.
I'm going to work on getting some miles in on early mornings. Let me know if you want to meet.
Debra
