I hate to talk about aches and pains but here goes. I am taking it easy on my knees........they are still bothering me. I did not get in my 8 miles this weekend but did walk 2.4 on Sunday and Monday. I am going to take it easy again on Tuesday and then try to jump back in on Thursday or Saturday. I started taking Glucosamine Chondroitin to see if that helps. The pain is not horrible just uncomfortable and I don't want to do actual damage. I'm going to take it easy for a week or so and see how I feel. My right knee is the main issue. I would rather slow down a little right now than get injured and be unable to make it to the marathon.
I AM A MARATHONER!!!!!!!!!!
(If anyone has any suggestions I am listening.)

Rest, ice, ibuprofen. Exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee. It WILL get better if there is nothing seriously wrong. Don't get discouraged! I have been there.

I second what Jana said. Although I'm not quite there yet, I have confidence that I will be. Today, my doctor gave me some exercises to strengthen the knee and suggested that I use ankle weights while doing the exercises. If you would like a copy of the exercises, email me at sgold@watkinseager.com and I'll scan and email them to you. Hang in there! We'll make it.

email me and let me know where your knee hurts. Sometimes sole inserts can help.
Hi Micah - I'm right there with you on the knees. Our walking most of the practice last Thursday was a big help. But the trail in the woods at Raymond didn't help. I should have just walked that part for sure. Tried to walk this afternoon and knees just felt toooo tight. It's like you said, not really a painful thing but achy and we don't want to cause real injury. It's hard to know what to do. I got a ice pack today at walgreens that has a velcro covering so you can attach it to your knee, which helps. My bag of gree peas was shot! ha

I ditto everything everybody before me said. Rest, ice, ibuprofen, strengthening the quads, and DEFINITELY shoe inserts from Fleet Feet. I had the same problem you are having and all of the above helped. Hang in there. I'll get better, I promise!
